More Useful Docs on STILTS - Equality and Diversity
The KAES Equal Opportunities Manager has provided these useful documents - some hot off the press - for tutors. We should all be familiar with these policies and guidelines so take advantage of this easy way of accessing them. Those not yet available online from the STILTS website can be requested from your centre.
Also available (quite a large PDF file) is the Student Handbook 2005-06

e-Citizen Tutors Get Connected
A group of KAES tutors about to start delivering the new e-Citizen course has 'hit the ground running' by setting up a Google group to support each other and share resources. They kindly invited me to join the group and sharing their exchanges today, encouraged me to get the Google Groups page up on the STILTS website to help direct others who may want to try out this free, online communication tool.
If I had any doubts about the potential value of web-based communications to our geographically dispersed tutors, the e-Citizen group's intense activity online today has dispelled them!
We are already seeing the richness that web-based communication offers with links established between this new subject-specific tutor group, the IT Works blog and the STILTS website.

BBC - Computer Tutor
This is a high quality tutorial from the BBC for the computer novice. It progresses from basic mouse skills to keyboard and screen. Certainly worth a look if you are teaching learners new to PCs.
Sir Tim Berners-Lee on the read/write web
BBC NEWS Technology Berners-Lee on the read/write web
Amazingly the web has only been around for about fifteen years. Berners-Lee, a Briton somewhat less well-known than David Beckham, was its creator. This transcript of an interview broadcast on Newsnight during the summer may be of interest to those who remain ambivalent about the value of the web.

Course Files 2005-06
Ok, maybe not the most fun stuff but perhaps having this documentation available online is just what you have been waiting for....
The course file documents are organised in 'The Filing Cabinet' part of the STILTS website where further useful information will be added in the coming weeks.
Did I hear you say:
What's the STILTS website?
Supporting Tutors Implementing Learning Technologies is a website for Kent Adult Education tutors and the companion to the IT Works! blog. The new STILTS site is still very much work in progress but content is being added steadily.
As new content is added to the website it willl be flagged up here at IT Works! This blog will also feature tips and ideas as I hear about them so make sure IT Works! is in your ''favourites" list or better still enter your email address into the text box on the left and click subscribe.
